f you’ve spent any time at Cajun Corral Farm, you’ve probably noticed that every goat has a unique personality. Some are adventurous, some are mischievous, and some are perfectly content to relax in the sunshine. But every now and then, two goats form a friendship that’s impossible to miss.

For us, that pair is Gretel and Mon Cheri.

Gretel is the curious explorer of the farm. She loves checking out anything new, wandering from one pasture to another, and helping herself to a few fresh Mimosa leaves whenever she gets the chance. If there’s excitement somewhere on the farm, Gretel will be the first to investigate.

Mon Cheri couldn’t be more different.

As the oldest goat in our herd, she’s earned the right to take life a little slower. You’ll often find her stretched out in a patch of lush green grass, soaking up the sunshine while enjoying a leisurely snack. She’s calm, confident, and just a little bit of a diva—but in the sweetest way possible.

Despite their different personalities, these two are almost always together.

Gretel may lead the adventures, but Mon Cheri is never far behind, quietly watching over her best friend. Whether they’re grazing side by side, relaxing beneath the trees, or greeting visitors together, their friendship reminds us that the best companions don’t have to be exactly alike.

Watching them has taught me something simple but important: true friendship isn’t about doing everything the same way. Sometimes one friend is the adventurer while the other is the steady, calming presence. Together, they make each other’s lives richer.

That’s one of the many lessons our goats teach us every day.

Life on the farm isn’t just about making handcrafted goat milk soap and skincare products. It’s about slowing down, appreciating the little moments, and finding joy in the relationships around us—whether they’re between people or between two wonderful goats.
