It’s that time of year when front yards become pumpkin masterpieces, carved with creepy faces to either welcome or spook trick-or-treaters (depending on your artistic skills, lol). But here on the farm, we eagerly await your post-Halloween pumpkin donations for our goats! Yep, every year the community brings their creative squash creations to feed our little munchers. And don’t forget those pumpkin seeds! Both the rind, the meat, and the seeds are a gourmet feast for our four-legged farm babies.
As we crack open each pumpkin, the goats gather around like we’re hosting a pumpkin buffet, impatiently waiting for their share. Little do they realize, they’re not just getting a tasty treat—these pumpkins are packed with hydration and vitamins, perfect for helping our goats gear up for the cooler weather. And those seeds? They’re a natural, holistic way to help keep parasites at bay, which is why they’re such an important part of our farm’s routine.
If you’re ready to donate your pumpkin, we’ve got just a few simple rules to keep our goats happy and healthy:
1. No painted pumpkins
2. No stained pumpkins
3. No pumpkins sealed with chemicals
4. Absolutely no moldy pumpkins!
All of these can pose serious health risks for our goats. But if your pumpkin is au naturel, we’d love for you to drop by and let our goats enjoy your festive leftovers!
I know some of you love to get festive with hay bales, but unfortunately, we can’t accept hay donations for our goats. Hay can hide mold and moisture inside, which can be deadly for our four-legged babies. Please understand that for their safety, we have to say no to hay. But don’t worry! You can still repurpose that hay by spreading it in your vegetable garden or flower beds to protect your plants from frost.
Thank you for taking the time to read our blog and learning about how you can help our goats enjoy the fall season with your pumpkin donations! We truly appreciate your support and the love you show our farm. If you enjoyed this post and would like to contribute to the continued growth of Cajun Corral, please feel free to donate below. Every bit helps us keep our farm thriving and our animals happy. Thank you!
